Alloa Academy c 1910-11
« on: Friday 31 October 14 15:20 GMT (UK) »
With WW1 very topical this year, I was reminded of a family story. I'm told my gran (Mary Ramage) attended Alloa Academy, and at one time we had a photo in our family of her class around the time that she left school (probably c. 1910-11), and I was told that all of the boys in the photo were subsequently killed in WW1. I would be really interested if anyone knows if class photos from around that time might be available from any source, or if the above regarding the boys may be true.

Thank you

I have three suggestions. The Clackmannanshire Family History Society' The Clackmannanshire Field studies Society and Alloa and District Public Library, Drysdale Street, Alloa. I'm afraid that the building no longer exists. The academy is the building back right at the top of the hill. the bandstand is not there either now.
