Thanks for that extra information. Just one more question. Do you have information on Francis Murphy's parents etc. It might help find a connection between the two families.

Cheers Holly

Francis father was Francis born 1859 (dont know where) but drowned in the river Lee Cork in 1897 there was an inquest but never found a burial for him.
His mother was Elizabeth Carrick but they married in Newcastle upon Tyne.

SO, WHO ARE WE SUPPOSED TO BE LOOKING FOR????

Murphys or Carneys????

Who did you father stay with in Leitrim????
Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.

Hallmark,

Her father stayed with the Carneys.

Her father was born HENDRIK LEENDERT DE BIE in 1912. His mother married Francis Murphy in 1919 and sometime around 1924 Francis sent Hendrik to live with the Carney's.

She's looking for information about the Carneys and I believe also to see if they have a connection to Francis Murphy.

The Carney's info is posted above and I managed to find Ellen's maiden name and some of the children.

Cheers,
Holly

Francis Murphy Sr is a similar age to Michael Carney. Is it possible that he was born in Ireland?

I was thinking along those lines maybe cousins.

What was Francis doing in Cork in 1897 visiting relatives or what i wondered. As on his son and daughters marriage certificates it states he was a miner.

But i live in Spain so everything has to be done on line and dont and cant get access to all records.

In the GORTLETTERAGH ROMAN CATHOLIC (same church some of Michael Carney's children were christened) there is a Michael Carney & Anne Higgins christening several children between 1853 and 1862. It is possible these are Michael's parents. There is a James, John, Sarah, Daniel, James & Francis. No sign of Michael, but it's a possibility.

There is a Michael Carney &  Anna Higgins marrying 19th June 1838 in Cloone.
