Hi

The early marriage entries don't always show parents' names.

I'll have a look around Kirkmahoe records to see if I can find anything.

SP shows a baptism for a Janet Swan, 21 Aug 1720, Kirkmahoe.  Father given as Edward Swan.  This might not be her but it's a reasonable match.

Do you have the names of James and Janet's children?

Added - online trees have this one as marrying a John Johnston, others have her marrying your James!

I have James born 1746 in Kirkmahoe, I am not sure of any others, but it is definitely the Janet Swan who marred James Swan that I am interested in.

I think I have seen her marrying both, is it possible she was a widow when she married John Johnston?

Nothing else showing for Jan(n)et and James in Kirkmahoe. problem is that some parishes don't shoe mothers  :(

My old CDs don't work with Windows 7 so I can't look anything else up and I don't have any MIs for Kirkmahoe - might be some online.
