I've just found another "record" that appears more likely by virtue of date

Marriage of Martin Wisdom of Brackley to Susannah Harrison of Tusmore 1793(Oxon Banns)

That last record looks more promising in the light of the following:-

There is a Susannah Wisdom, given born 1766 in the 1841 census in the household of a Henry Wootton and his wife Elizabeth(probably nee Wisdom, marriage 1823).Their address is High Street,Brackley St Peter,Brackley,Northants.
In the same census in High Street,Brackley St James,Brackley,Northants,is a Joseph Wisdom(1806) and family with lots of familiar Christian names including a Susannah.
Martin and Helen(Ellen) also have a daughter Susannah of course....

Roger

Marriage of Martin Wisdom of Brackley to Susannah Harrison of Tusmore 1793(Oxon Banns) does look the best bet. In light of this I shall add it to my tree but add a note saying no firm proof exists at this time.

Many thanks for your efforts Roger

Possibly as an aside,I have a printed card relating to the funeral of another son John Joseph,in which it refers to the family grave at Olton Franciscan Friary Solihull. It seems unlikely but I don't suppose any earlier clues might lie there?

From the location of the family grave they were no doubt a staunch Catholic family.Perhaps that is contributing to difficulty in finding pre registration(1837) records.

That's interesting because my Father and Grandfather (Francis) were also strong Catholics as I assume William also was.
Thanks for this latest info.
Martin according to my records died in 1868 in Birmingham 100% certain.
Both my parents were born in Aston (Birmingham) and moved down here in Surrey in 1940.

Would you by any chance have anything on Martin's wife's family Helen Wyse? 1799-1863 born in Hardwick Oxon.
Regards
John

No I don't have anything on Helen Wyse, but I'll start looking.I assume you have the name from a birth certificate. It's likely that they would be a Catholic family as well I would think.

One thing that strikes me immediately is that there is a Hardwick cum Tusmore, and Tusmore is where Susannah Harrison is given as from in the Oxford banns of 1793.
