Thanks for the replies everyone . You have been very helpful  :) We found some of Patricks navy documents at the National Archives and have discovered that his parents are indeed John and Ellen. We also found a listing for a John Clampett being born about 1840 to Catherine Dwire and Thomas Clampett.  As for Patrick's wife Johanna all we know is that her father is Thomas James and her mother is Kate Rielly.  We learned that Patrick died in 1930 and Johanna in 1932 and were wondering what the closest cemeteries would be to the Faythe as we would love to visit their graves . I contacted the Wexford Archives but haven't had any joy yet. We are only learning how to do our family tree but finding it very interesting as we knew practically nothing to begin with .

Hi There

So, do you have their death certs ?

Were they still living on Faythe Street in 1930 / 1932.

As far as we are aware they lived in the Faythe until they died but we really don't know much about them and there's no one left we can ask. Their son Thomas moved over to Port Glasgow and we have the tree sorted from there thanks to Scotlands People . We also managed to find out a bit more about Catherine Dwire/Clampett and she seems to have struggled during the famine being in and out of jail with her son John for stealing food.

The other branch of Clampett's are still in Wexford.

Just googling shows you this.

This site isn't for finding living relatives BUT If I were you I would try reaching out to those on the likes of FB to see can they help you.

It's always worth a try  ;D

I asked in Wexfords people on Facebook regarding them and although they know of the name Clampett they don't know them directly . Also sent a couple of PMS to people by that name in the area but haven't had any joy . We are taking our daughter down to Dublin for a concert in March is there anythng that could help us at the library there?

Do you mean the National Library ?

I've never actually used it so I'm not sure of the range of material that they hold but I'm sure a quick google would help.

I was told by someone though that you need to have a lot of your background work done before going there.

You need the reference numbers etc for what you are looking for as otherwise you can loose a lot of time. Also you need to double check that they will actually have the items that you are looking for as seemingly stuff can be loaned out to other institutions etc.

Yes the National Library .We'll probably leave it then as we are only there for a couple of days. We just found Patrick on the 1891 census in Wales. He was listed as crew on a boat called Annie :)

Enjoy doing your tree !

Sure there's 5 months 'til you are in Dublin.

Lots of time to research and put a plan in place  ;D

Really enjoy it so far. We are also researching the Fraser's in Scotland and have found Scotland's People to be invaluable. Wish there was a site like that for Ireland. It'd be a lot easier :)
