I have a family tree on Ancestry.com containing William Henry Whitcombe who was born in the Westhay area of Somerset in 1923 to parents Henry Charles and Florence Whitcombe nee Rossiter.
William fought during WW2 and was killed 1 April 1945. He is buried at the Reichswald Forest War Cemetery. William is remembered on the War Memorial at Meare in Somerset England.
Members of William’s family recently visited the Cemetery but were unable to find his grave. They left a cross with his name on it with a message on the back, in the wall of the cemetery itself in case anyone found his grave.
A lovely gentleman Paul Alford was visiting the cemetery himself and he was able to find William’s grave, right at the back, block 55 row F3. He placed the cross on William's grave.
Paul took a photo of the grave stone with the cross which he copied to his Facebook page. It would be wonderful if William’s family got to see the photo. Please contact me through this web site as I have a copy of the photo and a Facebook reference for Paul himself.
