Richard Henry Binfield - Folkstone
« on: Saturday 08 November 14 10:09 GMT (UK) »
I am helping a friend start her family tree and I have found some info, but details in NZ seem to be limited.  Her family name is Binfield and her father was Robert Edward and I have found that he is the son of Richard Henry, Mother Agnes.  I don't seem to be able to find any census reports, etc. in the Uk.  As yet I have not been successful in finding when he came to NZ and his brother Richard Harold also came to NZ. We have more details of marriages, etc. in NZ, but it is the UK links we would like to find??  Any help would be appreciated!

You should be able to find them all very easily in the 1911 census in Folkestone

Richard Henry Binfield married Agnes Lee in Burnley,Lancashire 1893
www.freebmd.org.uk
http://www.lancashirebmd.org.uk/cgi/marrind.cgi
ADDED
baptism - parents Richard Henry and Agnes
Robert Edward baptised 14th feb 1900 Folkestone,Kent
Richard Harold b 1896 in Blackley,Manchester - in Folkestone in 1901 census

there is an Eva Binfield b 1894 Chorlton,Manchester - in Folkestone in 1901 census - she looks to be a sister ?
you need to look at the 1911 census in Elham,Folkestone as Shaun J has suggested
Agnes (Lee) Binfield is 41 born Manchester - so born 1869/1870.....

there is ONE Binfield in the Folkestone phone book
www.192.com  has their address - might be worth writing to them ??  might be a descendant ...do you know if all the family left for NZ or just Robert Edward Binfield and Richard Harold ?

this baptism
record states Elham,Folkestone

now that we know the mother was Sarah
1862 marriage june qtr in Elham,Folkestone Richard Binfield to Sarah Milton

Further to my posts re Richard Henry Binfield, we have now and verified the information you all sent thru and we have located some of the Binfield family in the States.  We have one mystery that we don't seem to find an answer to.  Richard Henry Binfield married Agnes Lee in 1893 and their son Robert Edward came to NZ.  His daughter (who I am helping to find her family history) can remember a woman visiting from the UK who her father called his sister (Flora), she was killed in a road accident in Christchurch, NZ.  On the death record for Agnes Binfield (Robert Edward's mother) it states F. Stevenson daughter present at the death 21 Peter Street, Folkestone. On Robert Edward's birth certificate it states his Mother as Agnes Binfield late Lee formerly Nelson.  We are wondering if Agnes Lee had a daughter when she was married to ?? Lee, but none of the Census records we have show her living with the Binfield's??
Just wondering if anyone can find something that throws some light on this??
Thanks
