They may have given you the date of burial. You need to get the date of death from something like a gravestone inscription. If the date is wrong you could end up paying the search fee. You would be better off asking on the site I posted and getting the date checked.

Me again! ;D

As I was walking past anyway, I popped into The Civil Registry.

They will (even!) charge me a £5 fee - even if I do the searching myself! ;D
The cost of a certificate is still £10 - whether I get it or you do it.

You can order online (they tell me).

If I get the certificate for you, I would have to charge you the postage.
If they do it, it's post free!

That's very kind of you to look and offer!

Thankfully the date I was sent by the woman at the registry was correct! I had a spur of the moment spree last night and decided to just apply for the certificate, and got a call today saying they'd found it without a search so just the £10 fee to pay!

I'm already 99% sure it's my Frances, but will update once I recieve the certificate.

Thank you again everyone for your help and generosity!

eta: Just wanted to update to say I received the copy certificate this morning and it's definitely my Frances 'Fanny'. Such a shame she died so young, but nice to know what happened to her. She died on the 25th and her death was registered on the 27th. Not sure where the 24th came from that is floating around on the internet, but at least I can finally make sure of the dates!

Thank you for all the help!
