Her sons were weavers and pooly paid. As I said, along shot, but somebody may be able to help.

Hello Hallmark, thank you for taking the time to answer me. Elizabeth Pollock's maiden name is "Caddon" on her death cert. She is on the Poor Law records in Ayrshire, Scotland, and her maiden name is McAdam. On the death cert. of her son William, my gggrandfather, she is "Caddon" I would love to find out more about this branch of my family. Her d.c. states she was born in Monaghan Ireland. The informant was her son Alexander. I realize this is a (very) long shot  and I thank you for taking an interest.

There are some Pollocks here... http://www.rootschat.com/links/01e69/

Other than that you're relying on Church records mainly, depending on religion

If you go to:

http://www.askaboutireland.ie/

then select Griffith's Valuation, you can do a name search for Caddons and McAdams in Monaghan.  Caddon or similar does not bring any results but McAdam does bring 41 returns the vast majority of whom were in Clontibret parish.  These records date from 1861.
As Hallmark says you would be relying on Church Records but if you had to chose where to look, Clontibret would be a fair bet.  PRONI has extensive Monaghan Church Records but these are not online.

If you search  familysearch you get the likes of

Philip Mcadam United Kingdom, Chelsea Pensioners' Service Records, 1760-1913
birth:    1796    Monaghan
pension:       United Kingdom

William Mcadam United Kingdom, Chelsea Pensioners' Service Records, 1760-1913
birth:    1791    Monaghan
pension:       United Kingdom

Edward Mcadam United Kingdom, Chelsea Pensioners' Service Records, 1760-1913
birth:    1793    Monaghan
pension:       United Kingdom

George Mcadam Ireland, Civil Registration Indexes, 1845-1958
birth:    1804
death:    April 1883 / June 1883    Monaghan, Ireland

I just put Ireland in not Monaghan because some just say  "Clones, Ireland"  which can be Monaghan!!

A lot of results http://www.rootschat.com/links/01e6e/ but these are for Ireland. You can try "Monaghan, Ireland" if you want... but miss out on "Clones Ireland" ones!
