Church Question --- St. John's Llanbeblig
« on: Monday 17 November 14 19:35 GMT (UK) »
Hello :)

My 2x great grandmother was married at St.John's church in Llanbeblig in 1889. The Vicar was Daniel  Lewis. However, I cannot find a reference to St. John's only those referring to St. Peblig. Any help is very appreciated.

In the 1881 census there is a Daniel Lewis, living in Gwastad Faes Llanbeblig listed as vicar of Betws Garmon. There is currently a Church of St John the Evangelist in Waunfawr not very from Betws Garmon, perhaps it is the same or a successor church.

Roger

That is undoubtedly him --- as to the church, no idea. i am familiar with the little church at Betws Garmon. I am planning a UK visit in the not too distant future and will visit the churchyard as a number of family members are buried there.

I'll see if I can trace the Vicar's life ... perhaps a mention of his 1889 location will appear. I'll start with the 1891 Census.

Diolch, Roger :)

According to snippets from the Welsh Newspapers online facility Daniel Lewis already vicar of Waenfawr was appointed to Betws Garmon in 1878 and died in 1891:-
