Could anyone help, looking for a marriage of  James Darling to Margaret Shell  1851 - 1859
James born in Scotland c1829 on the 1851 Census living on Holy Island, Mary born on Holy Island,
on the 1861 Census living on Holy Island with 4 children.

There is only one marriage of a James Darling on Freebmd during that time span. I wonder if it took place in Scotland?

Was she Margaret or Mary

No Darling-Shell marriage in either of the two booklets of irregular/Border marriages published by the Nothumberland and Durham Family History Society http://ndfhs.org/Sales/index.html

However these are only a few of the irregular marriages that actually took place.
