Stevens - Hall
« on: Wednesday 19 November 14 02:31 GMT (UK) »
Any information on Jack Stevens, born 1st Sep 1926, I'm presuming in Wales.
He married Margaret Hall, born 25 Jan 1925 in Monmouthshire, in the Dec quarter of 1949 in Pwllheli.
I have been unable to verify their parents so far.
Many thanks.........

If you purchase the marriage certificate it should give fathers names and occupations.  Are they still living.

I had a look on the North Wales BMD and found Jack Stevens and Margaret Hall's marriage in 1949. Unfortunately NWBMD only gives the year.

However, it is still a valuable site as it will give a location for the marriage which in Jack and Margaret's case was St Cian's Church in the village of Llangian. It is located about 6 miles south west of Pwllheli and a mile north west of Abersoch.

Be careful, in some cases the website may show marriages as registry office marriages but don't assume like I did that this was the case. A registry office marriage may also mean a non-conformist chapel/church marriage as well.

A footnote to Jack and Margaret, NWBMD also had an additional entry showing Jack as Jack Stephens as well as Jack Stevens.

Hi
See 'Keith's recent posting under Caernarvonshire; part of it copied below:

Just found this new website which should build up into a very useful research tool. It covers the small village of Y Ffor (Fourcrosses) near Pwllheli, and the surrounding area.

If you go to that posting there's a link to the site.
Transcript of the wedding entry in the Parish Register is shown.
Jack's father, S V Stephens, Clerk; Margaret's father, Percival Hall, Retired.
Jack from Surrey; Margaret from Boston House, Abersoch.
