Didcocks in Berkshire
« on: Wednesday 19 November 14 02:34 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to piece together a family "lie" that has gone on for give or take the last 70 years.  My Grandmother met and Married my Grandfather Luther A C Cooper as a Probert.  I have now found out that her family name is Didcock.  her father was called Harry Didcock, Mother is unknown, Sister is Annie G Pratley (Didcock) (Married Sydney Pratley)... and her brother is Harry Didcock.  I am looking for information on that family, dates for the parents, possibly a mothers name.  All documentation i have found up until now is under name Probert, nothing under Didcock... so any assistance is greatly appreciated.

According to a tree on Ancestry, Annie's mother was Florence Lydia Didcock, and her father was Harry Albert Green.
The parents married in 1914.

Annie's birth?:
December qtr 1910
Wallingford district     vol 2c, page 307

Didcock, Annie G

None of this matches a 1911 census?! ???

I haven't paid for ancestry yet.  I had paid for it for 6 months before but got absolutely nowhere.  so im researching the siblings and go from there.  I've all but decided that the family is a lost cause.

Interesting that there is a daughter with her on the voyage to USA  in 1947. She is aged 6 so born before her marriage to your grandfather.

Worth searching on FreeBMD for a birth reg under the various surnames.

Well, as you probably know Gadget, most records are copied from other sources, and are prone to error.  :) :)
