Donald Carver married Ivy Bowden in UK 1945
« on: Friday 21 November 14 00:14 GMT (UK) »
Hi, my father's cousin, Ivy A Bowden married Donald D Carver in 1945.  I understand that he was a Canadian serviceman and that they returned to Canada shortly afterwards.  My mother (now 92) remembers working alongside Ivy in a war factory and Ivy calling her "cuz".  Ivy wrote after the war but my mother lost contact.  Does anyone have any information on Ivy, Donald or their descendants?  Unfortunately, I don't know which part of Canada Donald came from.

Thanks, Rosie.  At least that places them in Nova Scotia.  I've had a look at the Canada resources to see if that gets me further - tried Donald, Ivy, & C.E. Carver but no joy.  I suppose they also could have moved.  Just have to hope some-one has a connection & see the post.

Thanks anyway - that's already a lot more than I had.  :)

Hi estiman,

From Musquodoboit Valley Cemeteries, there is a listing for Ivy A. Carver b. 1919 d. 1988
and a Donald D. Carver b. 1923 d. 1970 veteran.

Cheers,

Thanks Rosie, got it.  Sent 2 replies including info on short return visit to UK.

Thanks also dbreeze.  That's definitely them - another corner of the jigsaw ... unfortunately it's a 1000 piece one!  :)

Just saw your older post today.  My cousin is married to a gentleman from Middle Musquodoboit.  I mentioned this to her and her husband responded. Please see below

Tell them that Donalds son still lives in Middle Musquodoboit and as far as we know he still works for Air Canada in Halifax.  We both know Donalds son and my cousins husband knew his parents.

Edited , living persons.

Thanks for your post, Margie1953, welcome to RootsChat.  I think I may be a bit slow today... You say "please see below".  I looked but didn't see  :). I presume there are meant to be contact details?  These are better sent by personal message. I have also been interested in finding out more about Ivy & Norma's daughter.  I've sent you a pm.

For some reason I am not able to replay to the pm.  I have sent a message to my cousin to see if she would be willing to share her contact info with you so that you can follow up with her and her husband regarding the Carver family in Musquodobit

Yes we are in Canada. My cousin is in Nova Scotia close to where her husband grew up in Musquodobit
