It is hard to read the mother's name but it looks like Ann to me.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

The first name could be Mary but the last name is Quigley

Looked at writing again last night. Now it appears to say " Quig is deceased". But I may be seeing what I want to see. I also see Mary more than Ann.

Would the parents information be on my grandfathers death certificate. He is buried in St. Peter's Dalbeth Cemetery in Glasgow , Scotland.

Yes, the parents should be named on the cert but it's dependant on the informant  who registers the death.
The informant may not have known the parents names

Re the marriage cert.
It's written in a standard format and will not read: "Is Deceased"

"(deceased)" is added below the mother's name which is standard format.
This now looks like her last name is slightly longer than Quigg.
I am certain it says Quigley

Hi annep5862,

If the information is only as good as the informant, then maybe the marriage certificate name on James and Esther is wrong. I can't find a quigley that married James and had the two sons I know.

Also, on the orig marriage certificate of James Duffy and Mary quigg (that I found) , they listed their parents as Duffey and mcQuig. It appears the names change with whoever records it.

How can I be sure I wonder?

Personally, I think they are the correct parents but it may be worth obtaining the death cert for James

Search result from Rootsireland.
I found the following born/baptized in Derry with these parents:
James Duffy and Mary QUIGG

James Duffy 1879
Patrick Duffy 1881
Mary Eliza Duffy 1883
John Duffy 1887

One other child has parents:
James Duffy and Mary QUIG

Annie Duffy 1877

I am fairly sure these are all the same family

Hi Anne,

I think so too. I am working on getting the death certificate for James now. I had found James, Patrick, Mary Eliza and John.

I missed Annie. I go on rootsireland. How did you find her?

When I did the search, I used a Standard Surname Search: Quig
This search format shows all the children listed
( I assume it means their mother's name started with Quig)

By changing the search to "Exact Surname Index" using Quigg, Annie dropped off the list.
I searched only for Annie but,I changed her mother's name back to Quig... "Exact  Surname Match" and there it was!

Edit:
At least yours dropped one letter only off the mother's name
My family from Derry had 4 children, and every one of them has a different last name spelling on their birth/baptsimal records.
Both sons moved to Glasgow and each had different version of the same name!

Did you cross reference the birth info with GRONI to get the exact DOBs?

All births are there, except Annie's.
There is only a baptism showing for her on Rootsireland?

James  24 Apr 1879
Patrick  13 Aug 1881
Mary  27 Oct 1883
John  3 Oct 1887
