Hi Moren,

George b 17 Jan 1861 can be found in the 1901 census, married to Alison and has 3 children, Alison 13, Seton 11 and Helen 9. He is a schoolmaster and is staying at Gilmerton Schoolhouse in Edinburgh, along with his sister in law and another schoolmistress.

Tom

PS Young Alison 13 was born in Fauldhouse, West Lothian as was Seton,11 but young Helen was born in Portobello. Gives you an idea where to look at earlier census.
Scotland - Buchanan, Thomson, Pat(t)erson, Stewart, Ritchie, Tracey
Ireland - Tracey, Conroy, Pat(t)erson.

Hi Moren,

In 1891, he was a schoolmaster at Portobello, living with him were his mother in law, Alison S Trail 72 and sister in law, (I think, down as son in law) Mary B Trail. His address was 16 Hope Street, Portobello.

In 1881, he was an assistant teacher at Fauldhouse, West Lothian, he was single and was down as a lodger.

Hi Moren,

In 1871, he was a 10 year old scholar, oldest of 5 children, others were John 8, jessie 6, Isabella 4 and Jane 2. They stayed in Church Street, Tranent. His father, Seton was a joiner.

I was born in Tranent too, some 87 years after George, so never met him, but I do know some Montgomery's from Tranent, I wonder if they were related.I digress, as usual.
