Willing to research Derbyshire ancestors (free of charge) have a large number of derbyshire parish records. and access to many others including full Census including 1911....

Well, I didn't realise that Curbar didn't have a church until the 1860s. That explains everything really.

Derek, please could you confirm if there was another Joseph Ellis baptised in 1789?

Hi!
I've just spent the day trying to get to grips with all the Ellis' in Curbar and trying to identify which is which!
I have seen the image of the Baslow St Anne's Church register for the baptisms of 2 Joseph Ellis' in the 1780s:
September 20th 1789, Joseph son of George Ellis   of Corbor
April 29th 1787, Joseph son of John Ellis   of Riddin House
Riding/Ridding/Riddin House is in Curbar/ Corbor.
