Calcutta, INDIA: Scots Cemetery look-up

Hello,

I was wondering whether anyone had access to the indexes of the Scots Cemetery in Calcutta, India.
In particular, I have found that there was an Ann d'Rozario who had been buried there, but unfortunately, I have NO idea of the date, or anything else about this Ann d'Rozario.

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to find information on a certain Ann de Rozario or De Rozar that is the executor of an estate in 1798 in Calcutta.
She must have been able to read and write in order to be executor (I assume), and was residing in Calcutta in 1798. I'm wondering if anyone has information on such a person.

Scottish cemetery est 1820. If Ann died before that she may be elsewhere.

What leads you to believe she would be buried in the Scottish Cemetery? D'Rozario is not a very Scottish surname. Are you sure she died in India?

Thanks for the sites, Ruskie. Sadly the first one had no dates (just a mention of Anne D'Rozario being buried there), and the second (with the monument photos) did not list her.
I did find another site, which showed photos of the state of the cemetery and I'm not surprised that there may be some known graves that cannot be read, as there seems to be significant degradation to some of the monuments.

The fact that D'Rozario was NOT a very Scottish name was exactly what caught my attention!! I could only think that she may have been originally Scottish, and married internationally. I am looking for an executor of a wealthy Scottish Doctor's will in 1798, so I assume that I am looking for a person with sufficient literacy, and have presumed at this point that she must have been European (in 1798). Apart from this assumption, and the mention of her name, I know nothing else about her (not her age, nor her martial state, nor the length of time she spent in india).....and any information on the person buried in the Scots cemetery or another contenders would be very welcome.

Dawnsh, would you have any more information on the Mrs Ann d'Rozario who died in 1805?

That is very mysterious. If you can explain who and what exactly you are looking for (dates, locations etc) then someone may be able to help you further.

Was your Scottish doctor living in Calcutta when he died? Was Ann named as the executor of his will? And you are just trying to work out what relationship she and the doctor may have had?
