Ennistymon workhouse county clare ireland
« on: Sunday 30 November 14 10:49 GMT (UK) »
My great grandmother, Honora McMahon (parents John McMahon & Margaret Leyden) was born at the Ennistymon Workhouse, County Clare, Ireland on 9th January, 1871.  Honora migrated to Australia in 1888.  I have looked on the Clare Library website to see if there are any records for this workhouse at that time.  It was a little confusing to know if they were on the website, although one note said that Clare workhouse records were not available.  Any ideas?
Many thanks,
Stancea Vichie

www.workhouses.org.uk has information about the workhouse:

http://www.workhouses.org.uk/Ennistymon/

All it says about records is that they are at Clare County Library! ::)

Many Poor Law Unions didn't keep much in the way of records and, even when they were kept sometimes scrapped them?
