percy loasby death
« on: Sunday 30 November 14 18:02 GMT (UK) »
Hi,can anyone shed any light on this for me please. My uncle ,Percy Ewart Loasby was tragically killed in an accident on the railway at Kettering 1947.He was cremated in July at Kettering crematorium.I have searched the newspapers ,and can find nothing about the accident.I think the family was living in Cransley at the time. There must have been something written about it.Thank you Glen

Which newspapers have you searched, and how carefully - it is very easy to miss seeing things that should be obvious?

So although, for free, it appears to show 1947 newspapers, do you mean that you cannot access after 1944?

Bit of a con if you sign up because you have found them, then nothing.

they are a bit hard to search, because if say you are at 1944,you have to scroll page after page, then you cant go back.I selected the later dates,it came up 1944,so that was the end.I must send for the death certificate.

If you send for the death certificate and find the exact date of death it will be easier for people to look in the  newspapers in the libraries to see if there is an article on his death. There is another Kettering newspaper which is not on the newspaper site.

yes,i think i must be positive and send, thank you. And,i could always contact their archives,i hadn't thought of that.My mother told me what happened,so i know the story, but would like to find something in the papers. It was a horrific accident, there MUST be a report somewhere.

Hi.

It might be an idea to contact the Kettering Newspaper Archives in Rothwell Road.
