I think Mary Ann Burnett was born in Knowstone in 1843  and think George Gard born about 1841 at Rose Ash . The census's 1871 to 1891 seem to point at a marriage ie Mary and George Gard .
Thanks Rosie

1871 census
Class: RG10; Piece: 2177; Folio: 53; Page: 7
Great Ashmoore, Rose Ash

Gard, George  Head  M  28  Ag Lab  b Rackenford
Gard, Mary  Wife  F  22  b Rose Ash

So George born c1843, and Mary born c1849?
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

There are several trees on Ancestry for this family. I had a look for baptisms for their children and found this :

Bessie Mildred Gard 3 Jan 1876 , daughter of George and Mary Gard of Roseash , bap 3 Jan 1876 at Ringsash , Ringsash Bible Christians.

Have you tried looking for a Methodist marriage in Non-Conformist records ?

Thanks but it looks like a birth in 1843 on free bmd . The census's suggest various dates of age and birth up until both their deaths in 1897 . Still no trace of a marriage though . I saw a copy of their child Richard Gard  born 25/9/1870 which give Mary Gard formerly Burnett on the birth cert .
