1851 Hertfordshire (Bishop's Stortford/Hockerill)
« on: Sunday 18 July 04 21:13 BST (UK) »
Hi,

Please can anyone help me with these people in the 1851 census?

Sarah Rider (sometimes Ryder)
widow, aged about 70-75, Bishop's Stortford or Hockerill.

George and Ann Rider (Ryder)
 aged about 40
probably at The Crown Inn, Hockerill

Thanks
Tigger

I am also tracing the Riders, being Henry, Rogers brother who i think you have an interest in.

Can i please ask who Sarah Rider is and how far you have gone back with the family?

Does this make us cousins, upteen times removed?

p.s. hope yours did'nt end up in the Workhouse like mine!

Hope to hear from you.                Thanks.

Hi,

Sarah Rider (nee Flack) is George Rider's mother,
and widow of another George Rider. I have quite
a lot of information on this family which I would be
happy to share - if you send me a personnal
message with your e-mail address I can send
you more information.

Do you have the census entry for your Henry
where he is in a field behind Hockerill? I love
that one.

T

George and Ann were my 3x great grandparents. I am then descended from their son Charles Walter Rider who was born in 1853. I have a lot of info about the Riders kindly supplied to me. I would be interested to see what info you have. Did you ever find Sarah in 1851 or had she died?

I'm also descended from  George and Ann Rider  - daughter Judith Rider was my great-grandmother.  Would be  fascinated to swap info.
