Hi again groom ;)

i'm not e member of ancestry but have a friend who is,
i'm after records from the Sunderland Royal Infirmary on my grandad
Robert Casey. Pte 6371 Kings Own Scottish Borderes,
admitted to the hospital 17th October 1914 for treatment for wound
{ dum-dum bullet }

Records:
HO. SRI/45/5  Register for medical cases 1st January 1914-11th January 1920.

HO. SRI/46/5  Register for Surgical cases 1st January 1914- 1st May 1946.

would like to know if these would be found at the National Archives.
All the best ;)

Hi Derek

Click on that link I gave you and scroll down. It looks as if the records you need may be at the Tyne and Wear Archives. If you click on the  i in a circle beside their name it takes you to an email address for them and a link to their website. Probably best to contact them and ask if they have what you are looking for.

His records on Ancestry make interesting reading as they include a very vivid description of a shrapnel wound to his left leg in 1917 when he was admitted to Alder Hay hospital. Not the sort of thing to read while eating!  ;D

Happy Christmas to you as well.

;) Yes that wound was from 1st July 1916, 1st day of the battle of the Somme :'(

until recently i didn't know he's been wounded peviously,
if i can get those medical records my grandad's file would be closed,
archived & treasured for those who come after me,
i was at my grandson's xmas school play yessterday, all the kids sang " Silent Night "
in german, i had a tear in my eye when they finnished, this xmas eve will be the hundered
annivasery of the christmas truce when soldiers gathered in no mans land :'(
i wonder how many of us since have said :'( if they'd just all gone home :'(

I will try and get our son inlaw to drive me up to Newcastle some time next year.
Thanks again groom, havn't forgot all help on my McIntosh's
Merry christmas & Happy New Year.
