Ann BRIGGS- born Eaton Socon(?) 1774
« on: Wednesday 17 December 14 16:37 GMT (UK) »
My 5 x great grandmother Ann BRIGGS (1774-1857) married William BRAYBROOK in Sandy in 12 January 1800. The 1851 census gives her birth place as Eaton Socon but she isn't to be found in the IGI transcription of the parish records.

Any suggestions welcome.

Was she a spinster when she married?
Have you checked neighbouring parishes to Eaton Socon?
Have you found any Briggs children chr in Eaton Socon? If so have you found a marriage, and seen if maybe Ann was an eldest child born before the marriage?

Sandy St/Swithin PRs up to 1812 have been transcribed on FreeReg. The marriage entry of 12 Nov 1800 is Wm BREYBROOK to Ann BRIGGS but there is no further info such as status or abode.

Bedford and Luton Archives and Records Service used to have the transcribed PR available to buy, up to 1812.  I have bought Keysoe and Little Staughton for my family history needs.

They still have, as has Beds FHS. Unfortunately the transcripts don't include marriage witnesses, although they do include parishes of residence if other than otp, and status if other than bachelor and spinster. For marriage witnesses you need to view the microfilm.
