Sir Thomas Robinson Ferens
« on: Thursday 18 December 14 16:33 GMT (UK) »
Looking for help in locating any information/photographs for Sir Thomas Robinson Ferens.

Awarded CBE in 1952 New Years Honours List for political and public services in Hull.
Awarded Knight Bachelor in 1957 NewYears Honours List for political and public services in Hull.

The person I am looking for is not the famous son of Hull, Sir Thomas Robinson Ferens (4 May 1847 – 9 May 1930) who was a British politician, a philanthropist, and an industrialist. It is recorded that he and his wife were childless.

Whether they are related or not I am not sure, as I have not found any information at all.
The only link I have for the one I am looking for the name of a Sir Thomas Robinson Ferens is as executor for the will of Patricia Ann Bruce Ferens on her death in 1968. She was married to a John Arthur Cundall, a well known figure in the farming and auctioneering community in Yorkshire

All help appreciated.

Not sure about the marriage name of his wife as I have a record if him marrying a Jessie Roberts in 1934?

HI,

Just checked back on the online tree; we're both correct!   Jessie Sanderson married John Roberts in 1927, then married again in 1934.

You will have seen that in 1881 the 4 yr old John Johnson TILL was enumerated as a nephew of Thomas Robinson Ferens and his wife Esther Ellen (nee FIELD).

JJT may have been one of the children of Esther's sister Fanny Emily FIELD, who married William TILL in 1873 and was widowed when he died in Barnsley on 21.12.1880.

Fanny appears as a widow in Barnsley in 1881, with children including a baby Esther M under 1 month old.  RG11/4603/18/30.
