James Wyatt ? baptised 11 Dec 1767 Chapel en le Frith
« on: Saturday 20 December 14 04:16 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to establish that my James Wyatt who married Hannah Wood 1789 At All Saints Glossop is the same person who I think might have been baptised 11 Dec 1767.

Some records might spell the name Whyatt but I am pretty sure he signed Wyatt.

It would seem their daughter Elizabeth may have been born Sparrowpit ( 1795 ).
A little later they were living at Glossop.

James became a gamekeeper for Bernard Howard , Duke of Norfolk.

Can someone kindly help with a baptism record?
In 1816 they were living at Glossop Cross. He received an inheritance relating to the tenancy of Blackshaw Farm Glossop.

Help appreciated.

Hi
Still looking for James Wyatts I see.
Only one I can spot is at Chesterfield.
James Whatt 11.12.1767 son of Mary.illegitimate
That's on FreeReg

Another possible  son John Whyatt baptised 2.5.1790.
Doesn't really tie in with the inheritance of the farm. Can't remember too well but I think James did have a brother John from previous post?
It's all I can see.

Thank you ciderdrinker'.
The only one I could find was the one at Chesterfield.
However I notice that someone had suggested a daughter Elizabeth from Sparrowpit.

Hi
There are some Wyatt and Whyatts in Chapel le Frith records.
A William and Ellen form Bagshaws and another William from Sparrowpit but they seem to have no children baptised there for the right period.
You can have a look for yourself at
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~dusk/chapel-e-l-f.htm
The nearest is a Martha baptised 4 May 1760 daughter of William Wyat of Bagshaw.

So there must be somw Wyatts in the area but they are proving difficult to track down.

Hi Lazarus

Have you excluded James, son of Han[n]ah WIOT/[WYATT], baptised at Hayfield St Matthew's, October 1, 1766?

Thank you Adepos.
I had not considered in any depth and do note that numerous familiar family names located there.
I gather Hayfield is only about four miles from Glossop.
My challenge is to prove or disprove without supporting evidence.
My substantial research on my Wyatt family has been concentrated on Glossop. Do you have any particular knowledge or suggestions?

Thanks

Blackshaw is half way between Glossop and Hayfield.

I note that a Hannah WYATT at Hayfield was in receipt of poor relief of 9s. 9d. in 1776/77.

There's a lot of research needed to work out your James' ancestry!
