1851 - 22 Stafford St

Ann Hayter    63, widow, charwoman
HO107, 1490, 216, 20

Mother?

We have I think a possible 1851 entry above with young George living with mother and her new Hayter family. From what Josey has, Ann Hayter born c. 1810.

my 1851 suggestion was Ann as in widow of Charles and mother of Ann Hayter/Foulston/Hayter - especially given the Stafford St address

Wow, thank you muchly both; Christmas comes early  ;). We DO have wings. Sorry for late response but have been picking last leeks from veg plot, marzipanning cake, etc this am after partying last night while you were slaving at my Hayters  :D

Mabel: I have long suspected that the marriage for Charles who had Ann 1810, Amelia 1812, Charles 1813, Richard 1817, Eleanor 1818 was 7 Jan 1810 at St George Hanover Square to Ann Dunevan. This Ann could be https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:J3M9-RHC; she would be 58 in 1851 but certainly the census you found is likely, address ties up too. If we could only find THIS Ann in 1841 at Market Street......where 2 daughters got married from in 1838 & 1845....
BUT Dawn: What a ...nuisance  :(

Monica: I foolishly only had the 1861 census for John & Ann so hadn't noticed George  :o. John 1815 was 1st cousin to Charles 1787 of the Staines/Windlesham Hayters & Ann Hayter/Foulston was a 1st cousin once removed of her new husband. John was a nephew of Charles 1787; son of brother Samuel 1760 who had 15 children with 2 wives over 27 years.

I have a comprehensive & well researched descendant list of Charles Hayter 1753 - 1826 blacksmith of Staines from an online contact who however didn't have any information of where his Charles 1787 had got to!! NOW we know! Will look for George J Fowlston in online trees.

I think George jnr kept things in the family. His wife is Mary Ann - there is a marriage in Pancras in 1859 involving George James and possible spouse Mary Ann Hayter
And Mary Ann was born in Bagshot ca 1831 from 1871 - 1901 census so also ties up with the Staines/Windlesham Hayters. However I cannot however find an image of the 1859 marriage on ancestry or Mary Ann's baptism on familysearch or her on the census 1841 & 1851 to see whose daughter she is. Is the family getting a bit inbred  :o ?

No luck yet in GR or ancestry trees, apart from an Arthur Foulston 1862 on GR. Have contacted member.

Mabel, sorry, getting goggle eyed yesterday when I saw your entry on Ann Hayter in Stafford Street in 1851. Had searched a lot for Ann Hayter/Foulston, so much that I forgot her mother was also called Ann  :P

How exciting to also now have a lead for her too.

That branch of the Hayters is probably the reason George James and Mary Ann baptised some of their children in Mortlake & Richmond, despite an abode of Camden Town/Kentish Town

Arthur is one of George & Mary Ann's

the Hayter connection continues after George James settles in Birmingham. There's an Albert Hayter who witnesses Arthur's marriage

Arthur is one of George & Mary Ann's
That's what I saw from the censuses - the GR member does not have siblings Frederick & Alice though.

Just to confuse us  ;D

Thanks.

ADDED: Failing to find Frances Fo*lston born ca 1810 in censuses after 1851....nor can find a baptism of her or George Fo*lston on familysearch.
