On 28 October 1850 the Glasgow, Kilmarnock & Ayr Railway amalgamated with the Glasgow, Dumfries and Carlisle Railway to form the Glasgow and South Western Railway.

Hi Sarco,
John Auld, West Langlands Street, Kilmarnock died PROBABLY during the first fortnight of May 1883, aged 64 years. "Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald", 18 May 1883 Edition, BDM Intimations.

Why publish his passing in a local newspaper if he was resident in Kilmarnock? POSSIBLY other family were resident in either Stevenston, Saltcoats or Ardrossan.

Looking at the Railway acronyms web sites, "C.M." is coming up as "Contracts Mananger"

If you search the 1841 Scotland Census with just a common Christian name, e.g. William,
with occupation "C M" there are numerous  people, it probably means, as was suggested before, Coal Miner.
