looking for the marriage of Jessie bartholomew father was Peter   in the Barrow in Furnace are around 1885 believe she was born in Wales

Hi Jim, I believe the fact we cannot locate James Thomas Miller or Jessie in 1891/1901/1911 census has something to do with it!

Hi again, their is possibly the future husband of Jessie also living in Barrow in Furness 1881:-

James Thomas Miller 22 occ Iron Ship Rivetter b Ireland

He is the son of William and Sarah Jane Miller all the family including siblings are born Ireland
Residing at 102, Brick Cottages, Barrow in Furness
Census Ref RG11/4291/11/21

Marriage ref 1883 as quoted by chempat has names of those that Married with that reg no.
2 males/2 females (sometimes there are more names)

As Tom Piper has a Wife Esther in subsequent Census it was Esther Whorton he married.

I queried that they had gone to America because that was where the couple appeared to be on various censuses.

As you had not stated why you were looking for a marriage or how you had got to Jessie Bartholomew, and not even sure where she was born, then possibly you knew she had gone to America and were approaching her from that direction.

As the marriage was so obvious, I wondered if you were not used to using free bmd, and so, possibly, American.

A little more background would have been useful.
