Thanks Lep for your efforts..... I think the whole family must have upped roots and done a flit..... from a parish whose records no longer exist for their era !

Dear Micheal

I am also a Dixon from Northumberland we have comunicated before.   Regarding the Gallaghers from Ireland-  My wife also has Gallaghers in the family from  Ireland.  But they turn up at Nth Sunderland when Robert Gallaugher  bn 1845 married Margaret Rutherford.   They had as far as I know 2 children Margaret Gallagher and Jane Gallagher bn Nth Sunderland,  Seahouses.  I think they were connected with the fishing industry.

Not sure if the actual border changed but people did move about and marry ones from other parishes and counties.
Certainly from 1870s onwards my family lived on the edge of one county and their postal address was the nearest town in the adjoing county. At the moment a friend living in Co. Leitrim has a Co. Sligo postal address.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Michael,

What about Martin Gallagher at Carrowdarny in the parish of Shancough in the Tithe Applotment Books, 13 March 1835, also a Miles Parlan there.

T.

HI everyone.  My ancestor was Bridget Kilgallon and she was from Mayo/Sligo.  I am currently researching her and very eager to find other 'family' members.  Bridget moved over to the West Midlands in the 1800s and married a John Banks.  Anyone related please contact me. My email address is (*)
