Ok, not a problem there

When did your Charlotte go out to Australia and where did she live.

Who did she marry and how many children did she have ?

When did she die etc...?

Maybe l could do some digging.

Cheers

Jamison

Hi Jamison,

Charlotte was transported to Van Diemen's Land in 1835, courtesy of His Majesty's Government.  According to her convict record she was born in approximately 1814 and at the time of her conviction was living in North Gray's Close, Edinburgh.

In 1840, Charlotte married Alexander MacDonald in Westbury, Van Diemen's Land.  I believe that Charlotte and Alexander had the following children:

- Henry (born 1839)
- Charlotte (born 1841)
- David (born 1844)

In 1846 the family moved to Geelong, Victoria, Australia.  Another son (Alexander) was born there.

Charlotte died in 1852 and was buried in Eastern Cemetery, Geelong.

Whereabouts did Janet live in Australia?

Regards

Neil

Hi Jamison,

Yes, still here.  I have not got any further with Charlotte's family.  I still think George McIntosh and Margaret Stewart are the most likely to be her parents.

Would be interested to know where in Australia Janet ended up and if she and Charlotte had any contact and also interested in anything else you can find on Charlotte.

Thanks for your message.

Neil

Hello Neil

Good - do what l can, when possible.

Found 1 of the children’s death register David 1857 aged 13 years old.

Charlotte’s death in 1852 shows no parents in the register.

I’ll keep looking for anything and then let you know.

My Janet died 23 January 1866 in Ararat Vic.

No mention of parents like Charlotte !!

The place is a bit further away from Geelong.

Can’t say if they had contact with each other.

But will let you know of what l come up with.

Cheers

Jamison
