Looking for the birth of Simon Petrus circa 1700 What i have;

Born about 1700 - Spanje, Granada
Deceased 18 September 1759 - Amsterdam , age at death: possibly 59 years old
Buried 20 September 1759 - Amsterdam
3 December 1728 :   Marriage License (with Neeltje Galois (Galoijs)) - Leiden
Sources: Regionaal Archief Leiden, DTB-Huwelijk, Akte nr 280
19 December 1728 :   Marriage (with Neeltje Galois (Galoijs)) - Leiden

Would like to find his birth and parents if possible. Also when he left Granada for Amsterdam.

You really need to know whether he was from the Province of Granada or from a town/village in the Province because all records are kept in the Town Hall of the birthplace.
If you find the actual birthplace, you can contact them for the details, but you will need to make the application in Spanish,

I was lucky enough to get details for a fellow researcher from the late 1700s in Menorca, but I live here & was put in touch with a local historian who is Menorquine & could understand the documents

Spanje is an alternative way of spelling Spain. Also Spaņa or Espaņa
So what the record is actually saying is "Spain, Granada"
Spanje is not the name of a place in Granada province  (as far as I´m aware)

might be some info on there for you ...you can register on www.geneanet.org and when accepted as a member you can e mail Fred .... just click on the tree on the right hand of his tree list

http://en.geneanet.org/search/?page_size=20&ressource=arbre&vplist%5Bname%5D=&name=petrus&nbindi=&country=ESP&region=AND&subregion=GRA&place=&annee_debut=1690&annee_fin=1759&source=&sub_frm54a264632d927=Search&ajax_ok=1

Pieter Petrus b 1674 and his wife Magdalena Claesen  b 1677 first show up in Amsterdam in 1702 ... I wonder if these are the parents of Simon and Magdalena Claesen and she was originally b in The Netherlands ...??   and after they married in Spain they went back to Amsterdam ??
all supposition - but maybe you can research Pieter and Magdelena ??

The Simon Petrus ment here was a stable guy and he married Neeltje Galoijs at 19 dec 1728 in the Pieters kerk in Leiden in The Netherlands. So he cannot be the father of Pieter Petrus. Always interrested in Simon Petrus.

Welcome to Rootschat.
I have this Simon Petrus in my tree.
My great grand mother was Elizabeth Sophia Petrus  1885 - 1928
Her father was  Simon Petrus  1858-1940.

Simon Petrus and Neeltje Galoijs were my  7th greatgrand parents.

On my website http://petrus-nl.net there is a menu item genealogie. Still this moment there is a graphical familytree
of simon petrus. I found that we are related by Johannes Petrus and Elisabeth Dekker. There is also a text part of the family simon Petrus. I said till now, becasuse there is a lot changed because of the new European regulations.
