Malcolm McDonald and Margaret Paton
« on: Thursday 01 January 15 04:26 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to trace the definite origins of Malcolm McDonald, born abt 1767 place unknown and died on 1 June 1833 in Aberdour Fife.  When he died his occupation was quarryman.

He married Margaret Paton, 13 December 1791 - one certificate from Aberdour Fife and one from Leith North.  The Leith North one says Malcham McDonald mariner and Margaret Paton of this parish......  My question is when it says 'of this parish' does that mean both of them or Margaret or Malcham?

I am having trouble working out where Malcolm McDonald was born.  Two possible family trees can be established for Margaret Paton one born Dalgetty and one born Dunfermline.  I suspect the Dunfermline is correct, but just need to establish what the marriage certificate means.

Any suggestions.

Regards, Natalie in Brisbane Australia

There is one family tree on A*y site for a Malcolm Macdonald (1770)from Cornaigmore, Tiree who married a Margaret Paton (1770), they lived in Aberdour and have one daughter Mary.  No idea as to the accuracy of the info.
