Hazel family
« on: Friday 02 January 15 21:26 GMT (UK) »
My friend's father was born 1912 ( now deceased) he was the youngest child of 13 in the Hazel family. He was born and grew up in James Street York.
The area has changed a lot over the years. York Council dump is in the area of James Street and is called Hazel Court. Here's my question does anyone know if Hazel Court is named after a person. Of course it could be just a coincidence. Any thoughts York folk.  :)

Have you looked on older maps to see when the name first appeared?

Try here?

Hi Chempat,
Many thanks for your speedy reply. I have sent an e-mail to the street naming site. I shall keep you up dated when a reply arrives.

Hello there BSIGGYME,
The photo is lovely.Hazel is an unusual surname.
Did your mum come from York?
I haven't made much progress with this name.
I contacted York City Council to find out if Hazel Court was named
after the Hazel family but to date they haven't got back to me.
