Hi GeorgieH

Tell you what, I'm on holiday in Worcestershire so will have a look at the wills on your behalf when I pay my weekly visit to the Hive/record office when in the county of my birth as unlike you I only live 100 miles away from the parish register depositry  :)

All the very best

Hi There

Im sorry but its to much for me to try & transcribe but I did locate a will for James New & the will itself would fill an A3 page of paper easily, there is also an inventory of what he had at the time of death & I think that was £!80 10s 8d if memory serves me correct but that doesn't tally with what he left as a quick look indicates that he left a house to his daughter Anne Smith (I think that was the name as the writing is hard for me to read & would have taken me a good week to transcribe.  I would advise you to get in touch with the Hive at Worcester by internet & ask them to either send you a CD of the will or send it to you electronically as I think it will be worth it as there look to be several names mentioned & I honestly wish I had the time to transcribe it for you but only have 2 more visits left to the Hive in my holiday.  I haven't been able to locate the will for William New as yet but if I have time on my next holiday I will have another look for you & if its not such a large one I will try to transcribe it but please don't hold me to that

once again Im sorry that I have let you down as I don't like doing that

All the very best

Phil

ps neither of these wills are in the index books at the Hive for the calendar of Wills but James's can be found by ploughing through them as the dates are correct & its easiest found by looking for the probate date

I forgot to say that I have the name New on my family tree but as yet have not done much research on that line at Evesham - If memory serves me correct they married into my Tredwell line & Ive only got that line on my tree as they married into my Pinchin line - its a complicated story  :)

Hi GeorgiyH
You asked for the details of  James New, the Elder's will proven at Worcester in November 1725

The following family members are mentioned in the will:-

Daughters - Anne Smith and Elisabeth Whitford - widow
Sons – James, Richard, Thomas, Edward and Anthony

James New, described himself as "the Elder" and as a yeoman and had several properties in Evesham and land in nearby Bengeworth when he wrote his will.

As Phil said the will is long! I can send you a  transcription of the will and inventory in a pm if you would like a copy.
