Anna Elizabeth Cockle Née Loane. Date of Death?
« on: Sunday 04 January 15 17:34 GMT (UK) »
I have Anna's BMD entry pplus in the 1891,1901 & 1911 cenussesss. By 1911 she is married to Ernest Sidney Cockle (1890, Rede, Suffolk) and they have a son Sidney (1911) born in Eye.

Ernest Sidney remarries Florence Ivy Saunders in Wandsworth in 1921 and he and his new family emigrate to Canada in 1927. Sidney is not with them but I suspect he died in Q4/1920 in Hartismere (which is the local Suffolk reg'n district).

Did Anna die before 1921? I can't find her??

May I take the opportunity to wish all you wonderful rootschatters a splendid and enlightening 2015.

Thank you very much guys, that all seems to make sense. There are two Arthur H Lovicks (why should it be simple?) and one (b1883) died in Q4/1958, Norwich and t'other (b1893) died Q4/1951 in Lothingland (which is Lowestoft way). I would guess :o that since Annie Lovick died in Nowich, then it is more likely to be the former.

Where would I search for the divorce papers?

Many, many thanks,
Malcolm

I don;t know if you have access to the Times Archive online (or Gale news vault) via your library, but there is a press report on the dealings of Ernest and Annie in the Times of 29 Oct. 1921. it seems they divorced in 1920 (case started in 1919 - Ernest as a "poor person") on the grounds on Annie's adultery and her giving birth to children by others. The King's Proctor brought a counterclaim in 1921 based on his desertion of Annie in 1911 and possibly fathering other children (not proved, but he was involved in a bastardy claim which as not revealed in the original divorce case). Their short married life was spent in Yorkshire with his parents, or in the workhouse - and there was a very brief reconciliation c1916/17 during his war service.

Gosh thank you Mabel, that's brilliant. I don't have online access but it's now on the list for my next visit to Kew.

Cheers,
