Hearsh/Harris
« on: Friday 09 January 15 21:04 GMT (UK) »
I have traced my Moore family back to my great great grandfather Samuel Moore from Co. Down who married Sarah Jane Hearsh (father George Hearsh) from Monaghan in Belfast in 1861. I have a copy of their marriage certificate. Does anyone know if Hearsh is valid surname or a corruption of Harris as I have found birth certificates for some Harris children that fit. Pappyken.

Don't see any Hearsh in Tithe Applotment books Griffiths Valuation or Census 1901 but there is Hearst ( not in GV) maybe you should give it a try, quite a few in Monaghan.
