Researching Joseph Marshall 1834 and Eliza Collins
« on: Wednesday 05 November 14 08:17 GMT (UK) »
Hello . I'm new to this forum but searching for Marshall family in South Shields I came across you old post .
The Marshall family I am researching also lived in Garden Lane and Mill Street . My line is through Joseph Marshall1834 and Eliza Collins .They had quite a few children including Joseph1857 and William 1873.

Could there be a connection ?

In this photo is my Grandfather William Marshall, my father Albert William Marshall, two uncles William (Billy) & Frank Marshall & another uncle on my Grandmothers side Manson.......they all worked in the Durham mines but I don't know which one.....I don't know the other people in the photo.

These are addresses I have for this family:
1881- 86 Garden Lane, St Hilda’s South Shields, England
1891- 21 Mill St, Westoe, South Shields,England
1901- 3 Elston Street, Felling, South Shields, England
1911- 7 Coromation Terrace, Springwell, Near Gateshead, South Shields, England.

My dad is the one in the middle standing with a bonnet on and someone has their hand on his shoulder...he would probably be around 20 ?...he was born 1895.

Can anyone tell me which mine they would have worked in?

Isabel :)

Welcome to RootsChat
There are maps showing the location of mines on the Durham Mining Museum site, for example this one for 1898. http://www.dmm.org.uk/maps/1898-07.htm of the South Shields area, and this one for the Gateshead area http://www.dmm.org.uk/maps/1898-06.htm

Hi, I’m in this family from South Shields & was just wondering who you’s are and what information you may have? I’m a granddaughter of Frank Marshall! I’m looking for a family member in relation to him if you could give me any info about frank you know that would be great! Thanks x
