Arthur Collins joined the Royal Sussex Regiment in 1910 and left 1928 when he went to work in aHotel in Bognor regis.
Although we know he served we cannot find a service number for him. Any suggestions.

Arthur Collins is a very common name.  Do you have date/place of birth/death ?

This is an Arthur Collins of the Royal Sussex during WW1, but as stated, there could have been several others.

Assuming that he has no middle name, the most likely contender is the one that Roy flagged up.

6390445 is a post 1920 number allocated to the Royal Sussex Regiment.
His earlier service number was L/9494, which is a RSR Regular number issued between July 1910 and January 1911.
This man served in the 1st Battalion, which was in India throughout WW1.

Thanks Forester. He is our man. His daughter was only 8 when he died and the only thing that was ever said was that he had served WW1 in India. Now we can try to see if we can find his service record.
