Hi, wondering if anyone can help me find the family of one F/O Frederick Robert Jamieson. He was part of 22 squadron. we know that he and the 3 gents he was with went down round about Heligoland when they were mine laying on the 25/26 May 1940

Anything would be great

Kind Regards

Hi

You haven't given any details of his age when he died to give a clue as to his birthyear but luckily www.cwgc.org.uk have the entry complete with his parents names

http://www.cwgc.org/find-war-dead/casualty/1801096/JAMIESON,%20FREDERICK%20ROBERT

www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk will have his birth and if it was 1912/1913 - you will be able to download a copy from the website.  It will give his parents full names and mothers maiden name.

If it was later than 1913 then you will have to order a copy

Just saw this on an internet search.  Fred was my uncle and I have a number of details of his war service and I'm about to get his war records (unless you have his records from the RAF already - hint).  Last mission: 25/05/40 - 22 Sqn - Beaufort I - L4450 -Coded OA-F for Freddie.
Op: Gardening, Took off RAF North Coates at 23:00 hrs Crew:  W/C H M Mellor, F/O F R Jamieson
LAC A D MacKenzie, P/O H J Cook.  Lost without trace into the North Sea, off Heligoland, Germany. W/C Mellor and his crew are commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial to the Missing.

Service history (full history will be in his war records):
July 1936 Air Force List - Acting pilot officer - RAF Depot, Uxbridge, posted in 18 May 1936
Jan 1937 Air Force List - No.11 Flying Training School, Wittering, Posted in 2 June 1936
April 1937 Air Force List - Still at No.11 FTS
June 1938 Air Force List - No.36 (Torpedo Bomber) Squadron, RAF Seletar, Singapore, Posted in 7 Sept 1937
Feb 1939 Air Force List - Still at No.36 (Torpedo Bomber) Squadron
May 1939 Air Force List - AFL stopped giving postings for security reasons.
