Isabella Donaldson Greig
« on: Sunday 18 January 15 23:19 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for a Isabella Donaldson Greig dod, I have searched s/p website, been into Register House a few times looked at the deaths hit a brick wall. Also tried looking on the 1911 census same scenario. She married David Barclay, 23/1/1880, Tranent, her dob is 28/8/1853, Tranent. I found her on the 1901 census and she was a visitor in Glasgow. Her husband died 2/12/1919, in 89 Grassmarket, The Metropolation Lodging House, Edinburgh, he was married when it was registered also he was a inmate and was certified when he was in Police Chambers. Their children names were Mary, 1880, James and William 1882, Horace 1885, Primrose who was a male 1889 and Joseph 1895.

SP has 6 matches to an isabella Barclay death with a birthyear 1853 +- 1yr

Assuming you have viewed and discounted all of them - have you considered she may have re-married?  I know she was 66 when her husband died but you never know.

Another alternative is to look for a marriage for Primrose (poor man :o)  or Joseph and see if she is shown as living at that time

Primrose who was a male 1889.

It appears "Primrose" was his middle name & Duncan his forename  :P

Have you checked the whereabouts of the children? Sometimes mothers can be found
with one of them.
Also, have you checked to see if Isabella is with any of her siblings, I can see 2 sisters and
2 brothers.
Any chance that she may have emigrated with one of the families after 1919?
Who was the informant on David's death certificate?

Thanks for posting those Annie ;)
I just didn't have time to look but I thought emigration was possibly the reason we
couldn't find her death 8)
Ann will be pleased :D

I had a look for Isabella on www.findagrave.com

but only found son Horace;

There could be more of the family there though but I didn't have enough time.
