Fifer,  here's a Fifie on which you can stowaway on holiday. The Swan from Shetland, superb grub apparently, I visited it in Greenock.

Ye can tell the sea's in my blood eh?  ;) Father was a Marine and at least 4 generations (on two lines) back Navy, mariners, ferrymen and  oooh even  :-[ the dreaded Customs and Excise men  :P  ;D

Born with a caul, as was my eldest daughter.  ::)

Ex partner family tree goes back to fishermen in the East Neuk (Fife) met him during the 30 years I lived there after I was widowed.  Late husband trained as a ships cook before striking out ashore.

Managed as a youth worker to finance 6 deprived kids the experience of a lifetime on the Tall Ships - yaar Jim lad!  ;D

Tonight I took up Seaweed's advice to contact www.shipsnostalgia.com and within the hour I had received a reply from Douglas.

"PD131 is the Ident. She also appears in the C&E Register on 1.3.1869 when the registers begin. Obviously she lasted until 1889 when she appears in the Almanac. The owner in 1869 was Stephen. When I get a moment I will add the detail from 1869 to the entry on my website (FBH)."

Many thanks to Isabel H and Seaweed for direction to both sites. Not forgetting others who chipped away bit by bit to build up a case to clarify the details. :) :D ;D
