On the 1881 census mothers name is Amelia ,  Joseph's is a Coal Miner

1911 Census has a Jospeph William Robins who is also a given as a Miner . could this be him ?

I thought Mahala was quite an odd name, so I looked up censuses and found her in 1851 living with her parents and with Daniel (son in law). They married in Ashby de la Zouch in 1850 and Mahala was her name, so either it was misheard as Amelia in 1881 or this was how she was calling herself.
Having problems with Joseph though.

Thanks.

I cant find any of the family on the 1871 census, tried wildcards in case Robins had been mistrancribed like it now looks Amelia was or as you say callling herself that.

There is a Joseph Robins, coal miner, lodging with a Knowles family in Stourbridge in 1891, but he is down as being born in Lye. Mistakes are made on censuses, so this may be the fault of Mr. Knowles, or the recorder.
