Hopefully someone will recognise William, if you have the Vines children marrying in Leicester, maybe I can look there to see who the witnesses are, is there child from the first marriage? Just some thoughts/avenues I can try and help with

Hi Willsy and thanks for the offer.

Sophia Vines married William Hooke in Leicester in 1859 (Vol.7a Page 448).
Joseph Vines married Emma Taylor in Leicester in 1863. (Vol.7a Page 310).
Their older brother Henry married in Derby.
I lost track of their sister Mary (b.1838) after the 1851 census when she was in Leicester

Hi Danone

Thanks for your reply. I've discovered that the name Deacon is spread throughout Leicestershire and probably elsewhere. Elizabeth Deacon in my family thought that she was born in Kilby but I acquired the transcription of all births deaths and marriages in that village for decades before and after her possible birth/baptism and she isn't there. She may have lived there after being born elsewhere and I know that the name is common in the nearby village of Fleckney so that might be the clue and certainly there is at least one Elizabeth born in the time span she gave (1801-1805). However I need evidence of the earlier Deacons around the turn of the 19th century.

Interestingly she seemed to be living in Leicester by the time she got married.

cheers
Tony
