Searle or Rawlins Mitcham Common Funfair
« on: Tuesday 20 January 15 22:03 GMT (UK) »
Please can anyone help I am searching for any information on my family past and present.

My grandfather Thomas William Searle I believe born in 1909 on Mitcham Common with the fun fair.
He had a father also called Thomas Searle died June 1915
His father John Searle who died 9th December 1932 aged 82 (married to Eliza)
I believe John Searle had a daughter called Eva Gladys Rawlins (died 1980) married to Charles Henry Rawlins died 1961 aged 71.

I have been told my grandfather Thomas W Searle was forced to sell the land he owned in the 1930s and then settled.

But I am desperate to find out more about my families lifestyle and culture also any pictures or documents.

PLEASE IF YOU ARE A SEARLE OR A RAWLINS OR HAVE ANY INFORMATION PLEASE GET IN TOUCH

Wow! so quick to find..just amazing. OK! My Grandmother was Elizabeth who married Thomas William Searle, they owned the site/field that the funfair was on. They had a son also named Thomas William Searle, he was my Uncle who married a Rene and lived in Merton. When Thomas died my grandmother Elizabeth married a James Sawyer. I have photos of the family in their old round gypsy caravan where they all lived in!! We must chat, it sounds as if its one of the same family.

WOW!!!!
Thomas William Searle (the one who married Rene) was my grandfather! And your uncle???
He and Rene had 5 children- including another Thomas (Edward) Searle who is my uncle- and an Alan Searle who is my father! We all still live in Merton.

I am keen to find out what ride my grandfather owned??
I would really appreciate pictures as I am losing my travelling family history.
