I came across some Kirk Sessions Records as I was transcribing the register for FreeReg and have transcribed parts that mention specific names - mainly the ones being rebuked for Antenuptial Fornication :-)

Not a long list, though A-F seems to have been a popular pastime :-) Hopefully it will be of interest to someone.

What a wonderful term for it :) :) Very descriptive. Lots of rebuking and repenting going on in Spittal.

Great work Boo. That made fascinating reading. Was rather hoping I might find a Crackett lurking in there, but no such luck.

The combination of awful writing, deteriorated document and a not too good scan means that there were bits I just couldn't decipher - no matter how hard I squinted, but  it was so good I had to share.

Interesting view into the times, isn't it? None of mine mentioned (though going by marriage and birth dates I had a fair few who did a dash to the altar)
I particularly felt sorry for poor William Steel who was desperate to repent, but kept getting told he was trying to repent in the wrong place!  Though he obviously took it seriously, it really made me smile.

Pleased you enjoyed it.

Yes, poor William Steel did have his trials and tribulations. Had to laugh at the "Creditable Ones" next door :)
