What happened to Eleanor Bellis b.about 1810
« on: Friday 23 January 15 14:33 GMT (UK) »
Eleanor Bellis(nee Davies) married Zechariah Bellis in Mold in 1832. She is in all census records from 1841 to 1851. Her husband died in 1859. I was told that parts of the 1861 census for Mold are missing. Can anyone help me find her for that year or what may have happened to her subsequentlyl please?

This tells you which areas are missing or incomplete:

(Just scroll down to Mold)

Have you looked to see where all her children are in 1861?

Thanks to both "millipede" and "chempat" I am grateful for your replies. I can't recall how I read or was told that there was a problem with the 1861 census for that area of Flintshire. That was why I drew a blank with Zechariah's wife Eleanor. On further checks of my records I do have Isaac & Edward BELLIS lodging in Minera; also Hannah as a Dairymaid- I need to try and see where she lived then. Mary BELLIS I have not found. Eleanor BELLIS the other sibling was also a servant in Leeswood.
I will now look up the death record of their mother Eleanor in 1865

This is the one I took to be Mary Bellis.

1861 add Banack? Holywell

Elizabeth Bellis 65 widow pauper formerly cotton spinner born Holywell
Mary Bellis 17 granddaughter born Holywell

Hannah the dairymaid down as "Belli"
Not much of an address just Leeswood

Some of the other children from 1851 are missing so possibly still with mother Eleanor if that was her death in 1865.

Zechariah BELLIS's parents were Edward BELLIS & Anne (nee HARRISON) ( Mold Parish Register)

According to the 1861 census when a Mary BELLIS was staying with her grandmother- her name was Elizabeth then a widow. Back in 1841 her husband was an Edward but not the above Edward.
So there must be another Mary BELLIS somewhere

Listed on the 1841 census for Zechariah & Eleanor's family there is an Edward, a pauper aged 75.
Zechariah was aged about 35- in 1851 he was 49. Is the Edward his father- possible I suppose

Thanks again for your help

If you haven't spotted it already, Welsh newspapers on line -
http://welshnewspapers.llgc.org.uk/en/home

If you search for Bellis in "Find an Article" and restrict date to 1847 using date slider bars, there's a snippet in the Carnarvon and Denbigh Herald, 2 October. Looking at the number of children on the 1851 Census, the snippet might well refer to "your" Zachariah
