Peramar:  Thank you once again - yes I have that marriage, but wondered about an earlier one - looks like this is it however.  They are also included in the Independent Chapel marriages of Belper and Heage, which matches some other information on the family - they appear to have been Baptists and that fits my family very well.

I do appreciate your time on my behalf.

Hi,

The transcript of the marriage 1837,  John Hopkinson to Emma Woolley. on Family search
states they were both single! So not likely that John had not been married previously.

Have you found them on the 1841 Census?

There is a William Hopkinson aged 3 living with Daniel Hopkinson aged 70.
Civil Parish of Shirland
 PIECE:   196
BOOK:   2
FOLIO:   4
PAGE NUMBER:   2

There is a Will, probate 15.6.1848, for this Daniel on Ancestry, which mentions property at Heage, however cannot see a son John mentioned.

There is  Emma Hopkinson aged 30, with dau Sarah 9 months (adult aged rounded down 1841 Census) living in the house of James Roper.  Sorry he was a servant, head of house
William Topham born abt 1796 NOT in Nottinghamshire.

CIVIL PARISH:   Langar
HUNDRED:   Bingham (North Division)
PIECE:   853
BOOK:   11
PAGE NUMBER:   3

However I cannot find John!

Hi,

1851 Census Crich, Derbyshire
Head of House Robert Hay B. 1800 Crich, his wife is Ann B 1803 Heage.
Robert Hay = Ann Woolley 28.10.1828 Duffield.

They have a visitor recorded as Maria Anne Topham age 17 born Brampton, Notts. However
the Bpt at Langor cum Bramston 15th June 1831 records Mary Ann Topham dau of
William Topham & Mary.

This is the Topham Family who Emma & Child were with in the 1841 Census.

William Topham & Mary had a number of children at Langar, some died, however one was Bpt John Wooley Topham 1.1.1827.

So there are a number of connections to the Woolley family and your Emma.

Hi

My maternal grandmother was a Hopkinson and I have lots of Hopkinson notes from researching her line predominately N Wingfield, unfortunately though, nothing from Heage.

However, I believe your line to be

either
Daniel Hopkinson son of Daniel and Ann bpt 15/7/1773 N Wingfield
or Daniel Hopkinson son of John and Sarah bpt 27/12/1770 S Wingfield

then

Daniel Hopkinson mar Ann Ridge 27/9/1804 Duffield, children John 1813, Joseph, William and Daniel

John Hopkinson mar Emma Woolley 21/3/1837 Duffield, children William 27/7/1837 bpt Shirland father farmer of Shirland, Sarah 1841 S Wingfield, Emma 20/2/1848 S Wingfield, Ann 30/11/1851 bpt Shirland father farmer of S Wingfield

Emma Woolley bpt 15/5/1815 Duffield dau of Jonathan and Lydia

There is an MI at Shirland "Affectionate remembrance of Ann wife of Daniel Hopkinson who expired suddenly 22 Feb 1848 aged 72 years.  She died as she had lived respected and … by all who knew her.  The memory of the just is blessed"

and wills
16/10/1800 Daniel Hopkinson the elder of Williamthorpe in the parish of N Wingfield
Wife Anne, son Daniel, Daughter Sarah, William Hopkinson.  Executors James Hudson, William Hopkinson.  Witnesses John Gratton, Rob Walton
16/4/1807 Ann Hopkinson of N Wingfield intestate.  Admin granted to son Daniel

Family Search have good coverage of the above.

I would love to hear how you get on and where the Heage line goes

Hi Valerie:  Thank you for your message and all the detail.

Interestingly enough, I had John HOPKINSON born 18 Sep 1813 at Heage and baptised 21 Oct 1813 at the Belper and Heage Independent Church the son of Daniel HOPKINSON and Ann RIDGE.   An Emma WOOLLEY was born and baptised at the same place 13 August 1809 daughter of James and Ann WOOLLEY.  My concern with this birth is that it is a bit too early for Emma WOOLLEY HOPKINSON.  She pretty consistently is one or two years older than her husband John in census records, but even so, it puts her birth more in the 1811-1812 time frame.  I appreciate you sending the Emma WOOLLEY born/baptised in 1815.

Also interestingly, one of the allied connected lines of the HOPKINSON/FASHAM family in Australia, marries a WOOLLEY, but I have not yet determined where her line comes from.  Need to get onto that, perhaps they will run right into each other.  That would be good.

Thank you again for your message and your interest.
