I need help identifying an army catering group
« on: Monday 26 January 15 17:42 GMT (UK) »
I need help identifying the regiment of a group of soldiers. This may be connected to the same regiment as one of my other postings, James Higgins, who I believe was in the South Wales Borderers, but I'm not sure. It shows a group of army cooks and dining staff in their whites and all it says on the front are three names followed by 8th Battery Cook Houses and Dining Halls. The back shows that the photographer was the Preston area.

Any information will be gratefully received.

Good evening,

8th Battery indicates that they are in the artillery but more than that is impossible to say.

The 4 named all have B r in front of their name. I am assuming that this is Bombardier abbreviated (corporal).

There was no formal Catering Corps until March 1941.

Prior to that, each reg/Corps/Unit supplied its own staff of cooks and "slop jockys".
