Vaughan of Nant-y-Cemes, Llangernyw
« on: Wednesday 28 January 15 22:23 GMT (UK) »
I'm looking for the Vaughan family who lived at Nant-y-Cemes (also Nant -y-Kemes, Cemmaes, Nantykemes) in Llangernyw. I have a Robert Vaughan who died in 1709, married to a Mary/Maria Evans, and there are wills for his son Richard (1691-1756) and daughter-in-law Ellin (d. 1756). Going by descriptions of holdings in the Welsh National Archive (http://cat.llgc.org.uk/cgi-bin/gw/chameleon?&lng=en&inst=consortium&search=KEYWORD&sourcescreen=CARDSCR&pos=1&rootsearch=KEYWORD&elementcount=1&u1=12101&t1=004201356&skin=full&function=ARCHIVESCR&linkedbibid=6711963&frbrnodetype=4&asynccontext=archivedetail), these Vaughans are related to the Vaughans of Pant Glas in Ysbyty Ifan, and if that's so, I'd love to know how...

Update (possibly to myself here  :)): Looking over Robert Vaughan's will (http://cat.llgc.org.uk/cgi-bin/gw/chameleon?sessionid=2015013010373203268&skin=profeb&lng=en&inst=consortium&function=EXTERNAL_CONTENT&externalurltype=856u&externalurl=http%3a%2f%2fdams.llgc.org.uk%2fintegration%2fbehaviour%2fllgc-id%3a350860%2ffedora-bdef%3azoom%2fllgc-id%3a350859%2f193.61.220.233%2fen) of 1709, he gives his lands in trust to Henry Vaughan of Pant Glas until son Richard reaches his majority. I'm assuming this is the Henry Vaughan in the mortgages above, and also the Henry mentioned in the Vaughans of Pant Glas entry in the Dictionary of Welsh Biography as being the last of that line.

I'd like to assume he's a first cousin, but perhaps that's unreasonable...
